If the reports coming from Amaravati are to be believed, contracting firm Transstroy India Ltd, promoted by senior Telugu Desam Party leader and Narsaraopet MP Rayapati Sambasiva Rao, might be shown the door from executing the multi-purpose Polavaram project.
According to these reports, TDP president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu, who reviewed the works of Polavaram project on Monday, expressed serious concern over the inordinate delay in the execution of the project by Transstroy.
He ordered the Irrigation department to issue show-cause notice to the promoters asking them to explain the reasons for the delay and give detailed explanation as to how they were going to complete the project within the stipulated time.
It is learnt Naidu might drop Rayapati’s firm from the project and entrust the task to another bigger contractor which can complete the target to supply water through gravity by 2018.
As part of spillway and concrete works, the major related tasks which are outstanding will reportedly be given another company through tenders before the first week of October.
