Rahul Gives Rude Shock To Komatireddy!

Rahul Gives Rude Shock To Komatireddy!

Hitherto, there has been a talk in the Telangana Congress camp that the high command would go in for a complete overhaul of the party in the State and fill it up with young blood, so that it would go to polls in 2019 with renewed vigour.

There was a belief that Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi might hand over the party reins in Telangana to a young leader who has the ability, agility and money power to carry the entire party on his shoulders.

As such, the name of former MP and present MLC Komatireddy Rajagopal Reddy was doing rounds in the party as the next PCC chief. Even senior leader like Digvijay Singh is understood to have preferred Rajagopal Reddy’s name for the PCC chief post by May 2017.

However, with the latest revamp of the PCC, it is pretty evident that the high command has no interest in revitalising the party in Telangana. It has preferred to retain Capt N Uttam Kumar Reddy as the PCC chief and indicated that he would lead the Congress party in the State till next general elections in 2019.

According to sources, Rahul Gandhi conveyed a special message to the Telangana Congress leaders that there would be no change in leadership till next elections.

The message was conveyed during TPCC’s Executive Committee meeting held here on Saturday. AICC leader Koppula Raju who conveyed Rahul Gandhi’s message, said the new PCC body would stay will next general elections. “New PCC body would function without any interference from anyone,” he said.

This is definitely a rude shock to Komatireddy Rajagopal Reddy, who was expecting to get the top post so that he would be projected as future Chief Minister of Telangana. Now that the old war horses would continue to dominate the PCC, there is no place for youngsters like Rajagopal. So, god only can save the Telangana Congress!
