The tremendous powers given to the officials by Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu has often been causing a lot of inconvenience and embarrassment to the ruling Telugu Desam Party MLAs in several constituencies.
On Friday, TDP MLA from Guntur (West) Galla Madhavi expressed strong resentment against district officials for repeatedly sidelining her in official programmes.
The first-time legislator alleged that despite being an elected representative, government officers have been conducting events in her constituency without even informing her.
Madhavi said officials were deliberately violating protocol and acting in a “divide and rule” manner.
“Despite several reminders, they continue to ignore my office. Even relief activities for cyclone victims were carried out without my knowledge,” she said.
The MLA questioned whether the officials’ behaviour stemmed from “innocence or arrogance” and said she would take up the matter directly with the chief minister.
“Officials are not following even the basic norms of coordination. This cannot continue,” she warned.
Madhavi also expressed dissatisfaction over the absence of the chief minister’s photographs and that of even Prime Minister Narendra Modi at certain government programmes and offices.
She criticised the state’s secretariat staff, claiming that “ordinary citizens are unable to get their work done.”
The MLA added that she expected a formal response from the district administration regarding her complaints.
“If this attitude persists, I will report these violations to the party’s high command,” she said.
