Now, Naidu To Announce Rythu Bandhu!

The Rythu Bandhu scheme being implemented by Telangana Rashtra Samithi government headed by chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has fetched him tremendous political mileage.

Perhaps, this is the biggest populist scheme ever introduced by any government and after seeing how it reaped rich political dividends for KCR in the elections, every state government is trying to emulate it.

Even Narendra Modi government is planning to announce the scheme in its coming budget during the session starting from February 1.

Now, the Telugu Desam Party government in Andhra Pradesh headed by N Chandrababu Naidu has also decided to implement the scheme in a desperate attempt to retain power.

He is expected to make an announcement on the implementation of the scheme after getting a formal approval at the state cabinet meeting to be held in Amaravati on Monday.

Sources said Naidu is planning to improvise on the Rythu Bandhu scheme, instead of copying the scheme being implemented in Telangana, so as to avoid facing the criticism of copying the same.

While Telangana government’s Rythu Bandhu is applicable only to land owners, the TDP government is planning to extend the scheme even to tenant farmers, which is a big jump.

At present, the finance and agriculture departments of the AP government are giving final touches to the improvised farmer's investment support scheme, which is likely to be come into implementation with effect from coming Kharif season.

Another welfare scheme Naidu is contemplating is to extend financial support of Rs 10,000 to each women self-help groups.

In fact, he has got a bad name among the DWCRA groups because he backtracked on his promise of waiving all their loans which he had made before 2014 elections.

Now, he is trying to cover up his failure with the new scheme. It remains to be seen whether the women would believe him this time or not!
