It is more than a week since Telangana Rashtra Samithi president and Chief Minister K Chandrasekhara Rao announced implementation of crop loan waiver scheme; but so far, not a single rupee has been waived for the simple reason that there is no clarity from the government to the banks so far.
This was pointed out by Congress leader K Jana Reddy on Monday. He criticized the TRS Government for failing to give clarity on crop loan waiver.
He accused the Chief Minister of deliberately ignoring the pathetic condition of farmers in the state.
Seeking to know whether the CM is taking any immediate measures to release the loan waiver amount to farmers directly, Jana Reddy expressed dismay at RBI not coming to terms on farm loan waiver issue.
“As the government is adopting delaying tactics, farmers with no other go, are resorting to extreme steps of committing suicide. So far, about 80 farmers ended their lives as they could not get immediate succor from the government despite assurance from the Chief Minister,” he said.
