If the speculations doing rounds in the political circles of Andhra Pradesh are to be believed, senior MLA Jyothula Nehru, who had defected from YSR Congress party into the Telugu Desam Party last year, would be inducted into the cabinet shortly.
He might replace deputy chief minister Nimmakayala Chinna Rajappa, who is also holding the the most important portfolio of home.
According to the speculations, Naidu is planning to make Chinna Rajappa as the president of TDP for Andhra Pradesh unit, in place of outgoing president Kala Venkat Rao, who has now become a minister in the Naidu cabinet.
The election of the new party president might take place before the TDP’s biennial ritual Mahanadu to be held on May 27 and 28.
Sources said since Kala Venkat Rao is a Kapu, Naidu wants to replace him with another Kapu, if he wants to appease the Kapu community. And there is no better person than Chinna Rajappa.
If he is made the party president, he had to sacrifice the cabinet post and the vacancy has to be filled up by another Kapu. The best person to replace him would be Jyothula Nehru, who missed the bus during the recent cabinet reshuffle.
However, it is not known whether Chinna Rajappa will be willing up give up his cabinet post so easily, but at the same time being a loyal party leader, he cannot defy Naidu’s decision.
In case, Naidu wants to retain Chinna Rajappa, Jyothula will not get any chance to get into the cabinet.
And Naidu has to look for another suitable alternative to Kala Venkat Rao as the TDP president. In that case, he might choose an SC like Varla Ramaiah.
Let us see whether the chance of TDP president goes to a Kapu or a Dalit.
