Naidu seeks to avoid Nandyal episode in Kadapa!

Telugu Desam Party president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu seems to have learnt a strong lesson of encouraging defectors at the cost of loyalists, after watching the recent episode in Nandyal assembly constituency in Kurnool district.

Naidu had to pay a heavy price for promoting Bhuma Akhila Priya as the cabinet minister and giving her all powers in Nandyal, ignoring former minister Shilpa Mohan Reddy, who had been loyal to the party for a long time.

After realising that he lost his importance in the party, Shilpa shifted his loyalties to the YSR Congress party and got the ticket for the Nandyal by-elections.

Apparently realising that many other TDP leaders might get inspired from Shilpa in the constituencies where defected YSRC leaders are getting prominence, Naidu has started damage control exercise by talking to such disgruntled TDP leaders.

On Saturday, he called former minister and senior TDP leader from Jammalamadugu P Ramasubba Reddy to Amaravati and sought to pacify him by offering him MLC seat and various monetary benefits.

Ramasubba Reddy has been sulking ever since his bitter political rival in the constituency G Adinarayana Reddy jumped from YSRC into the TDP last year and becoming the cabinet minister.

Gradually, Adinarayana Reddy has emerged as a powerful leader, suppressing the group of Ramasubba Reddy.

This led to clashes between both the groups and since then, Ramasubba Reddy has been staying away from the TDP workers.

Realising that he might take the route of Shilpa, Naidu called Ramasubba Reddy and sought to pacify him.

His son Lokesh and other seniors also talked to him and assured him that the party would take care of all his interests.

It remains to be seen whether he would fall in Naidu’s line or look for alternative political platforms.
