Naidu Diverted Big Money To Telangana?

Telugu Desam Party, which has partnered with the Congress and other parties in Telangana to form Maha Kootami in the ongoing elections in the state, has allegedly been funding the expenditure of the alliance partners in several constituencies.

The Telangana Rashtra Samithi has alleged that TDP president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu, who is personally supervising the Maha Kootami campaign in the elections, has extended finances to the extent of over Rs 500 crore.

But YSR Congress party MP V Vijaya Sai Reddy alleged that the diversion of funds from AP to Telangana by Naidu and his team is more than Rs 1000 crore.

“Not just Telangana, Naidu funded the Congress campaign in Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan as well,” he said.

According to Bharatiya Janata Party state president Kanna Lakshminarayana, Naidu had diverted funds sanctioned by Centre for the Polavaram project to Telangana elections.

He alleged that some TDP MLAs, who had made big money through illegal quarrying of sand, also routed their money through hawala means to Telangana to fund the Congress candidates.

Sources said the TDP has chosen several routes to divert the funds to Telangana, including direct cash transfer, hawala routes, NRI deposits and even through credit vouchers.

“He is taking the help of Andhra Pradesh police to route the money to the candidates in Telangana,” a source said.
