With Bharatiya Janata Party’s strategy of remote-controlling the Tamil Nadu politics by making former chief minister O Pannerselvam boomeranging, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is said to have decided to find a new Governor for the southern state.
Apparently, the BJP leadership is trying to pass the buck to in-charge governor Ch Vidyasagar Rao, who has given the maximum chance to Pannerselvam to muster the support of enough number of MLAs so that he can be continued as the chief minister.
Though it was pretty evident that Sasikala loyalist Edappadi Palaniswami has the support of 124 MLAs, Vidyasagar Rao made all out efforts to continue Pannerselvam, but the latter could not produce any list of the MLAs supporting him.
Even the police tried to force the MLAs staying in Golden Bay Resorts at Kuvathur on the outskirts of Chennai to give a statement that they were forcibly confined to the guest house, but all of them openly declared that they were supporting Palaniswami and had been staying at the resorts at their will. Having no other option. Vidyasagar Rao was compelled to call Palaniswami and make him the new chief minister.
With the BJP leadership getting exposed, it has turned its ire on Vidyasagar Rao for failing to handle the situation in favour of OPS. Sources say, it would very soon appoint a new Governor for Tamil Nadu and confine Vidyasagar Rao to Maharashtra.
