Let TDP MPs Quit, Face By-Polls!

Let TDP MPs Quit, Face By-Polls!

YSR Congress party president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy on Thursday threw yet another challenge to his bête noire – Telugu Desam Party president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu, virtually pushing him to the corner.

Addressing a rally at Nellore, Jagan asked Naidu to make the TDP MPs, too, resign from their seats to bring pressure on the NDA government to grant special category status.

“Let us see how the Centre does not come on its knees and grant special category status, if the MPs from both the parties resign from their seats. Is Naidu ready for the challenge?” he asked.

The TDP chief has hinted that his ministers in the Narendra Modi cabinet would resign from their posts in the first phase and the party will put of the NDA subsequently. But, nowhere has he given any indication about the resignation of his party MPs.

On the other hand, the TDP leaders alleged that Jagan was making his party MPs resign from parliament only after April 6, since the possibility of holding by-elections to their seats will be remote after that.

YSRC MP P Mithun Reddy said he and all his party colleagues in Parliament were ready to resign immediately and face the by-elections whenever they were held.

“We will resign in the prescribed format and are ready to face the by-elections on the plank of demanding Special Category Status to AP. Naidu can use his good offices with the Centre and get our resignations accepted. Will he get the turncoat MLAs resign and go for by-polls?” he asked.

Describing the ongoing developing events as a fight between the arrogance of Delhi and the self-respect of Telugu people, Mithun said that BJP and TDP were to be equally blamed for trying to bury the Special Category Status.
