In what is believed to be the first step towards transfer of power from father to son in the coming days, Telangana Rashtra Samithi Party president and chief minister K Chandrashekhar Rao on Friday appointed his son and Siricilla MLA K T Rama Rao as the working president or executive president of the party.
According to a CMO spokesman, KCR has taken the decision as he wants to concentrate more time on national Politics to bring about a qualitative change in it.
Since there is no better person than his son to run the party in his absence, KCR decided to appoint him as the working president of the party.
“The decision was taken with a view to entrust the responsibility of party affairs to a most trusted and efficient person, since KCR would be preoccupied with the governance activities like expediting construction of irrigation projects and also to implement the electoral promises in letter and spirit,” the spokesman said.
He said KCR had established TRS to create a political platform for the separate Telangana movement. The party took the movement to a logical end and achieved separate statehood for Telangana.
“Consequent to the formation of first ever TRS Government in 2014, strong foundations were laid for Bangaru Telangana. With strong belief that TRS party alone can safeguard Telangana, people overwhelmingly supported the party and elected it with a landslide victory in the recent elections,” the spokesman said.
Telangana people desire that for a bright future of Telangana, the TRS party has to be strong. Since KCR decided to play pivotal role in national politics and take forward the welfare and development programs in the state, the work load on him would go up.
“That is why, KCR has entrusted the responsibility of taking forward the party in accordance with his plan, to KTR, the most trusted person in party,” he said.
KTR would hold the responsibilities of enrolment of party membership, constructing party offices in districts and develop the party as the strongest one in the country.
KTR who has been successfully and efficiently handling and performing the roles and responsibilities of both party and government, has been entrusted with the new role of working president by KCR.
“The chief minister strongly believes and confident that the working style, the commitment, the direction and leadership qualities of KTR will help in leading the TRS party efficiently and effectively by him in the days to come,” the CMO spokesperson said.
