Kiran inviting ex-friends to join Congress!

It is now almost certain that former chief minister of combined Andhra Pradesh Nallari Kiran Kumar Reddy will return to the fold of Congress party in a couple of days.

Kiran has reportedly confirmed it to the Congress high command in Delhi and in all probability, he will be joining the party in the presence of party president Rahul Gandhi in New Delhi on July 13.

However, the former chief minister feels that it would not fetch him much publicity if he joins the Congress alone.

He wants his re-entry into the Congress in a big way along with several senior leaders, so that he could put up some show before the party high command.

So, he has been calling his old friends and requesting them to join the Congress along with him.

He reportedly called former MPs Vundavalli Arun Kumar and G V Harsha Kumar, besides prominent leaders like Konathala Ramakrishna and other senior leaders including former MLAs and MPs.

Some of them evinced interest, while others said they would need some time to take a decision.

The Congress party hopes that the re-entry of Kiran and other seniors would revive its fortunes in Andhra Pradesh so that the party could get back its identity, if not past glory, in the state before the next assembly elections.

Sources say Kiran reportedly told the party high command that he would not like to play a role in the state politics, but evinced interest in national politics.

So, he is expected to be offered a key position in the AICC and an assurance for the party ticket in the next Lok Sabha elections.
