KCR Wasting Money On Unviable Projects

Telangana Rashtra Samithi government headed by K Chandrasekhar Rao seems to be following the footsteps of the previous AP governments in taking up irrigation projects that are not viable but have inter-state ramifications.

For example, KCR’s decision to take up Palamur (Mahbubnagar) Lift irrigation scheme on Krishna river is considered to be a wasteful proposition as it is not economically viable and moreover, it might face troubles from neighbouring Karnataka and Maharashtra States.

Senior Congress member in Rajya Sabha Palvai Govardhan Reddy on Tuesday said the Chief Minister was taking up the project without knowing ground realities and facts about the project only to benefit contractors.

He advised KCR to consult experts like civil engineer Hanumanth Rao for better understanding on best possible solutions which are suitable to Telangana people.

“There is no point in spending crores of rupees on unviable projects on Krishna river, where water is not available. Instead, KCR should concentrate on Godavari river to tap un-utilized flood water going into the sea. Godavari is life line for future generations of Telangana State,” he observed.
