KCR Threats Only For Media, Not Owaisi?

KCR Threats Only For Media, Not Owaisi?

The other day, Telangana Rashtra Samithi president and chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao gave vent to his anger at a section of media for pointing out lapses in his administration in tackling Coronavirus pandemic situation.

He has not been able to digest any negative stories against the government in the media and face any uncomfortable questions from them in the press conferences.

Especially, he displayed his utter intolerance to the reports of lack of adequate facilities in Gandhi Hospital and proper protective equipment for the doctors and para-medical staff.

While threatening to take stringent action against media persons for writing negative stories in the media against the government and the hospitals, he even went to the extent of cursing that such people who spread canards against the government would have to die of Coronavirus.

He also found fault with the social media for making funny comments on Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s call for clapping and lighting lamps to express their solidarity to the fight against Corona virus.

“PM is an institution. So is the chief minister. You cannot make comments ridiculing them and their messages,” he said.

But surprisingly, KCR did not show the same kind of anger towards Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen president and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi or his brother Akbaruddin Owaisi, who not only made allegations against the Prime Minister, but also criticised the TRS government for lack of facilities in Gandhi Hospitals.

While Asaduddin attacked the Prime Minister for announcing lockdown hurriedly without taking any steps to rescue migrant labourers and poor people, Akbaruddin described Gandhi Hospital as a jail without any facilities for the inmates.

But KCR did not utter a word against the Owaisi brothers, nor did the other TRS leaders. This was pointed out by Congress leader and former MP Vijaya Shanti.

“I am eager to see what action KCR will take against the MIM leaders for making derogatory comments against Modi and describing the Gandhi Hospital as a jail,” she said.

She reminded that KCR had cursed the media and wished that they suffered from Coronavirus for pointing out lapses in the government.

“Will he curse Akbaruddin in a similar manner?” she asked.

Vijayashanti wondered whether Akbaruddin was aware of the TRS chief cursing the media.

“He might not have read about it. Even if he did, he might have thought KCR might not curse him because both are good friends. Or, he might have thought KCR’s curses would not affect them in any manner,” she said, in a tone of sarcasm.
