Although it’s been nearly a week since the TRS victory, only KCR and Mahmood Ali have taken oath as the Chief Minister and Home Minister respectively.
In effect, Telangana is virtually running on a 2-man cabinet currently. So what is preventing KCR from announcing a full-fledged cabinet?
One theory doing the rounds is that Congress and TDP MLAs are in touch with KCR for joining the TRS.
In the recent elections, 19 MLAs from Congress and 2 MLAs from TDP won. Apparently, 12 Congress MLAs and the 2 TDP MLAs are in touch with the ‘pink boss’ and KCR is contemplating offering the cabinet berth to a few of them.
If these people join TRS, then it would virtually be a death blow to the Congress and the TDP and there will be no Opposition at all to TRS in the State Assembly.
Therefore, KCR is not rushing things because if his plan works, then he could finish the Congress and TDP once and for all.
If these 12 MLAs join Congress, then the ‘Grand Old Party’ will be left with 7 MLAs equal to MIM with 7 MLAs. Thus Congress will be deprived of even the ‘Main Opposition Status’.
