Deputy CLP leader in Telangana Legislative Council Mohammed Ali Shabbir on Friday blamed the inefficiency of the TRS Government in handling power crisis in Telangana State.
Shabbir Ali said that power cuts in this part of the year were unprecedented.
The power cuts have badly hit all sections of the society, especially the farmers, industries, IT sector, domestic and commercial consumers.
"As a former energy minister, I can say that the present energy crisis were purely due to inefficiency and mishandling of the State Government," he said.
Shabbir Ali said that the farmers were not getting power even for four hours a day. Similarly, there is power cut for 12 hours in villages, eight hours each for mandal and municipal headquarters and towns and four to five hours in Hyderabad. In addition to the scheduled cuts, the government was snapping the power supply for several more hours.
The former energy minister asked Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao to explain his strategy to overcome the power crisis.
"KCR should explain his long term and short terms plans to overcome the crisis. On immediate basis, the government can take steps to increase coal production by holding negotiations with the SCCL to ensure 100% thermal production. Coal can also be imported, if necessary. Similarly, talks can be held with Reliance and other agencies for supply of gas on priority basis," he said adding that the previous Congress government was always quick in responding to such situations and additional power of 200-800 MW was brought to the State from the Centre.
