JD predicts Naidu as CM, Pawan as Dy CM

The recent political developments in Andhra Pradesh have given a broad understanding to the media analysts and political observers that there is every possibility of a strategic political alliance between Telugu Desam Party led by N Chandrababu Naidu and Jana Sena Party led by power star Pawan Kalyan in the next assembly elections.

But the alliance poses a tricky situation for both the parties. The Jana Sena Party workers and millions of fans of Pawan Kalyan have been longing to see him as the chief minister.

They have already started issuing statements in public and posting messages in the social media that though they have no objection to the alliance with the TDP, they want it to materialise only on the condition that Pawan Kalyan should be declared as the CM candidate of the alliance.

On the other hand, the TDP chief has been struggling hard to bring his party to power in the next elections and he has taken a vow in public that he would return to the assembly only in the capacity of the chief minister.

So, there is no question of Naidu announcing Pawan Kalyan as the CM candidate. If accepts Pawan Kalyan’s leadership, it will be a loss of credibility for him and he won’t be able to enter the assembly again.

Against this backdrop, retired IPS officer and former joint director of Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) made some interesting observations on the TDP-Jana Sena Party alliance.

“While fans of Pawan Kalyan want him to be the chief minister, Naidu has taken a vow to return to the assembly only as the chief minister. If the alliance comes to power, there is a possibility of Naidu becoming the CM and Pawan Kalyan as the Dy CM,” he predicted, in an interaction with a media channel.

He recalled a dialogue in Pawan Kalyan’s popular film, “Attarintiki Daaredi” which says a true leader is the one who knows where to lie low and not where to win.

He reminded that normally, whichever party among the alliance gets the maximum number of seats, the chief minister will be naturally from that party.

“If it is not possible, both Naidu and Pawan might share power for two and a half years each, as has happened in Karnataka, Maharashtra and Bihar states,” he said.

He also added that it would be better if the alliance parties come to an understanding on which party would get how many cabinet berths and what portfolios.

“Both the parties have decided to work together to save democracy and the state. So, it is not an issue which party will get how many cabinet berths,” JD said.
