YSR Congress party president and Leader of the Opposition in the assembly Y S Jaganmohan Reddy on Monday virtually pushed Governor E S L Narasimhan into defensive mode by “requesting” to take action against the four ministers who got elected on YSR Congress party ticket and inducted into the cabinet of Telugu Desam Party president and chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu.
In a letter to the Governor, Jagan said the four ministers – Sujaya Krishna Ranga Rao, N Amarnath Reddy, Bhuma Akhila Priya and Ch Adinarayana Reddy – were elected on YSR Congress party B form and later defected to the TDP along with 17 others without resigning from their posts.
“Our party has, in all, 66 MLAs as per the assembly records and there is no change in it. How can these four MLAs of our party be inducted into the TDP cabinet?” he asked.
Jagan asked the Governor to uphold the highest values of democracy using his discretionary powers by sacking them from the cabinet.
“Or you can insist on their resignation from the assembly membership, if they want to continue in the cabinet,” he said.
He alleged that Naidu was destroying the democratic fabric of the nation for his political benefits.
“It is not correct on the part of the Governor to remain a mute spectator to this blatant violation of the Constitution,” Jagan asserted.
