Power star and Jana Sena Party president Pawan Kalyan has finally announced his “yatra” from May 20 to take his party into the people and prepare it to face the next assembly elections in 2019.
However, Pawan’s yatra is exactly reverse to what YSR Congress party president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy has been doing for the last six months.
Or for that matter, the earlier padayatras of Jagan’s father Y S Rajasekhar Reddy and sister Sharmila and also Telugu Desam Party president N Chandrababu Naidu in the past.
While Jagan started of his padayatra from Idupulapaya in Kadapa district and is going to end it at Ichapuram in Srikakulam district, Pawan is embarking on the yatra in the reverse direction.
He is going to start his yatra from the banks of Bay of Bengal at Ichapuram on May 20. His first leg of the yatra would continue for 45 days to end in Visakhapatnam. Though his ultimate destination is not known, he is likely to end it in Kurnool in his subsequent trips.
Pawan told media in Visakhapatnam that it is not going to be exactly a bus yatra.
“I will also take up padayatra in some parts and address road shows at several places. It is a combination of bus yatra, car yatra and padayatra,” he said, adding that he would also participate in rallies of youth, women and weaker sections during his tour.
He declared that the yatra would be held in all the 175 assembly constituencies in the state.
“We shall take up all the issues of public concern that I come across during the yatra. We shall talk about kidney disease victims of Uddanam in Srikakulam and fishermen of Vizianagaram. On an average, I will tour two days in every constituency and understand people’s problems,” he said.
