Its About Whether The State Can Afford It

“Jagan had said before the elections that ‘loan waiver’ scheme for farmers is impossible. Today, he is demanding that we honor our promise on the loan waiver scheme. Not only have we cleared part of the loans and shown that loan waiver is possible but we will completely fulfill our promise soon,” said Nara Lokesh.

Lokesh has completely failed to grasp the central point of Jagan’s premise.

When Jagan said that loan waiver was an impossibility, he meant that it was not a practical scheme owing to the severe dent it would create on the finances of the State which is already reeling under the impact of bifurcation.

Ultimately, it is the people of the State who would have to bear the costs for loan waiver in terms of higher taxation.

Also, Naidu is completely diluting the spirit of the promise he made by attaching a lot of riders to the scheme.

Jagan would probably have formed the government if he had promised loan waiver too. He choose not to and Naidu did! That is why he is the CM today!
