The Bharateeya Janta Party on Friday demanded that the State Government not differentiate between students for fee reimbursements and to reconsider its decision on 1956 as the cutoff year for the purpose.
BJP chief official spokesman Sudhish Rambotla said that the new scheme proposed by Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhara Rao – Financial Assistance for Students of Telangana (FAST) was in reality a false assistance scheme. It was instilling fear among the students of losing their academic year.
Demanding that all students must be given fee reimbursements from both Andhra and Telangana as most of the beneficiaries were from economically backward sections as well as SCs and STs, Rambotla said that even the 1956 cutoff year was illogical and therefore must be reconsidered as not many can have records as early as 1956. He wondered whether citizens belonging beyond 1956 were foreigners and not Indians.
