Actress-turned-politician R Roja, who was accused by her rivals of being an iron leg for political parties, has once again proved her critics right.
Roja, who contested on YSR Congress party ticket from Nagari Assembly constituency, has won the seat with a slender margin of over 600 votes, but the party has conceded power to the Telugu Desam Party. She did not know whether she should feel happy over her victory or sad for the party’s loss in the elections.
However, within minutes of YSRC losing in the elections, there were comments on the social networking sites, describing Roja as iron leg.
She entered politics by joining the TDP before 2004 elections and the TDP lost the power. She held important position in the party, heading the Telugu Mahila. In 2009, too, the TDP could not come to power.
A few months after the elections, she sought to join the Congress party under the leadership of Y S Rajasekhara Reddy, but even before she was formally inducted, YSR died.
She later joined the YSR Congress party and within a few months, her party president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy had to go to jail in the assets case filed by the CBI. Now, the party failed to come to power altogether!
