Ex-DGP is invisible force behind Pawan Kalyan?

Ex-DGP is invisible force behind Pawan Kalyan?

A retired Indian Police Service Officer, who served as Director General of Police of the residuary Andhra Pradesh post-bifurcation, is said to be the invisible force behind the Jana Sena Party floated by power star Pawan Kalyan.

According party sources, the retired DGP, who belongs to Pawan Kalyan’s community, has been helping the party in working out political strategies for the party from behind the screen, but he is not willing to come out in the open, at least for now.

This retired IPS officer was in the news last month, when the Enforcement Directorate (ED) registered a case against his family members in the Rs 36.55 crore traffic challan scam.

His son-in-law was accused of embezzling funds by cloning payment gateway services of traffic e-challan accounts.

There was a talk that this ex-DGP would enter politics soon after his retirement. He had met not only former chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu but also present chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy a couple of times. But it did not work out.

Though he had never been in active politics even after his retirement, he has a fair understanding of the Andhra Pradesh politics across the state by virtue of being the former DGP.

Right from Srikakulam to Kadapa, he has made a thorough assessment of the strengths and weaknesses of Jana Sena.

Apparently, he has set up a team of his own people, who have been gathering information from the ground level and passing them on Jana Sena Party president from time to time.

The retired cop has been suggesting steps to strengthen the party at various levels. He has also been giving feedback from the people on the Jana Sena-TDP alliance and the strategy to be adopted by the party on seat sharing talks.

Interestingly, his former son-in-law had been in the news for falling in love with a woman TDP leader. Subsequently, he had divorced this ex-DGP’s daughter and married the woman TDP leader, who later became a minister in Naidu’s cabinet.

It will be interesting to see whether his invisible force would become visible at least by the coming elections, as it is expected that he would play a key role in the party in the coming assembly elections, sources said.
