DS to lose RS seat, if quits TRS?

DS to lose RS seat, if quits TRS?

It is more or less certain that veteran leader and Rajya Sabha member D Srinivas is all set to come out of the Telangana Rashtra Samiti. He will be either sacked or forced to quit the party sooner than later.

Though DS was desperately trying to meet TRS president and chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao on Wednesday, he could not get the appointment.

He was asked to try on Friday but the chances of getting an appointment are bleak, say the party sources.

If DS resigns from the TRS unable to face this humiliation, it is well and good. But, if he doesn’t, he will be served with a show-cause notice and then sacked from the party later, sources said.

What is worrisome for the veteran leader is whether he would retain his Rajya Sabha seat or not. He still has four years to complete his term in Rajya Sabha.

According to party sources, soon after DS quits or is sacked from the TRS, the chief minister might write to Rajya Sabha chairman M Venkaiah Naidu seeking disqualification of DS as he is no more a member of the TRS.

And the chances of Venkaiah accepting the recommendation of KCR and disqualifying DS are very high, as he had done in case of Janata Dal (U) president Sharad Yadav.

Moreover, Venkaiah wants to bring down the strength of opposition for the ensuing election of Rajya Sabbha deputy chairman post. If DS joins the Congress party and continues as MP, he might vote against the BJP and hence, Venkaiah will quickly disqualify him.

It remains to be seen what KCR will do and how DS will react.
