Don't Stay In First Two Floors In Amaravati

Telugu Desam Party government in Andhra Pradesh headed by N Chandrababu Naidu has been projecting a dream world to the people of the State about the new capital city of Amaravati on the banks of Krishna River. And the people have already started building castles in air.

But wait, irrigation experts have warned the people about an impending threat to their buildings in the new capital city in the event of heavy rains and floods to Krishna River.

According to retired irrigation engineer and a United Nations consultant on water T Hanumantha Rao, the river poses a danger to the capital city which is coming up in flood zone.

Besides Krishna river, the floods to Kondaveeti Vaagu would pose greater danger to the constructions in the capital.

So, he is learnt to have suggested to the government that if it wanted to construct multi-storied buildings in the core capital zone, the first two floors should not be allocated either for residential purposes or commercial purposes, since heavy floods of the magnitude of recent deluge in Chennai would definitely inundate the first two floors.

“People of Vijayawada have been experiencing floods to Krishna river very frequently and if one were to assume that if there were heavy rains in Vijayawada as was witnessed in Chennai, the entire capital city would be floating in the river,” he warned.
