Coalition Losing Ground in Vizianagaram?

Coalition Losing Ground in Vizianagaram?

As the TDP-led alliance government in Andhra Pradesh completes one year in power, questions are being raised about the public sentiment toward its governance. There's growing interest in how people perceive the performance of the coalition.

A key concern is the delay in fulfilling the much-publicized “Super Six” promises. In terms of development, the government has yet to move beyond announcements — there’s little visible progress on the ground.

The Uttarandhra region, including Vizianagaram, remains one of the most underdeveloped areas, requiring significant infrastructure and welfare initiatives.

Politically, observers say rifts within the alliance parties have surfaced over the past year, leading to increased factionalism in several areas.

Against this backdrop, a recent survey has caused a stir by indicating that the ruling coalition is weakening in Vizianagaram district.

What’s notable is that this survey was conducted by the same agency that had confidently predicted a massive victory for the alliance in the 2024 elections.

According to the findings, the alliance still holds strong in constituencies like Bobbili and Rajam. However, in other segments, internal divisions have reportedly taken a toll post-elections.

The survey also suggests growing public dissatisfaction in the region.

In the 2019 elections, the YSR Congress Party had swept all nine Assembly seats and the lone MP seat in the erstwhile Vizianagaram district. In 2024, the ruling alliance achieved a similar sweep.

Now, however, the question being debated is whether the coalition is beginning to lose its grip in this crucial region.

The survey reportedly concludes that this is a wake-up call for the alliance, especially in a district where it once enjoyed complete dominance.
