Chiranjeevi has declined to comment on the speech of Pawan Kalyan made at Novotel yesterday. However he clarified that he would convene a media interaction today evening and respond to his brother’s comments.
Chiranjeevi was present at Gandhi Bhavan where Ponnala Lakshmaiah and Raghuveera Reedy took charge as the PCC Presidents of Telangana and Seemandhra.
Upon being requested by the media to air his opinion on Pawan Kalyan giving a call to decimate the Congress in the coming elections, Chiru responded in the above fashion.
For the record, Chiru during the debate on the T-Bill in Rajya Sabha said that the Congress leadership at no point asked him for his opinion on the Telangana issue.
He said that even the Ministers from Seemandhra were not aware of any decision of the High Command at a specially convened meeting to discuss the T-issue and that the T-issue was just brought forward as a table agenda.
These remarks by Chiru led to an uproar in the Upper House and the BJP ridiculed the Congress’ way of handling the whole bifurcation process.
Yet, the Congress has now made Chiru the head of the ‘election campaign committee’ for Seemandhra.
At today’s press meet, will Chiru stick to his statement made in the Rajya Sabha or will he come up with a different tune? Pawan Kalyan’s allegations are not without merit.
Duping the public is one thing. But if your duplicity is questioned by one from your own household, then there can be no greater embarrassment.
All eyes are now on Chiru! As he has grown from an MLA, to a Union Minister, his credibility as a human being has decreased proportionally and his reputation is now in the drain. So, what will he say at the press meet? The battle between the brothers is now out in the open! It is definitely an acid test for him!
