Can YSRC Sustain Knife Attack Episode Till Polls?

The YSR Congress party seems to have decided not to drop its guns in its fight against the Chandrababu Naidu government till the episode of the knife attack on party president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy reaches a logical conclusion.

The party is trying to keep the fire raging continuously till the next elections so that the attack on Jagan’s life will be a major election issue.

That is precisely why Jagan and his party colleagues want to continue the legal battle seeking a third party independent inquiry into the Visakhapatnam incident, while tapping all democratic institutions to expose Naidu.

On Thursday, YSR Congress leaders met the Governor ESL Narasimhan and submitted a representation seeking his intervention into the whole investigation into the incident.

Speaking to media after the meeting at Raj Bhavan here on Thursday, party leaders Dharmana Prasada Rao and MLA RK Roja said: “we have no faith in the state investigation as the DGP and Chief Minister had already set the tone by meeting the press and making every effort to dilute and deviate the incident despite its gravity which needs to be looked into from various angles including the conspiracy one.”

They said the YSRC was seeking a Central agency probe as the state investigation has already deviated and left out the vital conspiracy angle.

“Efforts are being made to dilute the issue to treat it as a minor one though it was an attempt to murder on the Leader of Opposition who holds the cabinet rank,” they said.

Meanwhile, Jagan is planning to resume his padayatra this week and is all set to go before the people with an injured arm to explain how Naidu tried to eliminate him. He would continue his argument in every meeting.

“He will ensure that the sympathy wave would not subside. More than gaining the sympathy, Jagan will focus on the failure of Naidu in preventing law and order in the state,” a party leader said.
