BJP to help BRS destabilise Revanth government?

A statement made by Union minister for tourism and Telangana Bharatiya Janata Party president G Kishan Reddy that the Congress government in the state led by chief minister A Revanth Reddy might collapse anytime has lent credence to the suspicions that the saffron party might begin attempts soon to topple the democratically-elected Congress government.

“The Revanth Reddy government is too fragile that it can collapse even if it sneezes or coughs. That is why it is trying to pamper the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM),” Kishan Reddy told reporters after the party’s meeting in Hyderabad on Saturday.

He strongly opposed the appointment of AIMIM legislator Akbaruddin Owaisi as Protem speaker and announced boycott of the swearing-in ceremony of the MLAs.

He wondered why the Congress has chosen Owaisi though there were several other senior members in the House.

The BJP chief reiterated that the Congress party and the AIMIM are birds of same feather.

“It is evident that the Congress in its need to stabilize their numbers in the assembly has sought the AIMIM support and the latter eagerly joined for its perennial need to control old city and share power,” he said.

A couple of days ago, former minister and senior Bharat Rashtra Samithi legislator Kadiam Srihari also made a similar statement that the Congress government in the state would not last long and the BRS would come back with the support of the BJP and the MIM.

This led to the suspicion that the BJP and the BRS might be contemplating pulling down the Congress government taking advantage of the precarious situation in the ruling party.

There was a talk that some of the elected Congress MLAs were actually plants of the BRS and they might return to the BRS, if they get a good financial package.

“If necessary, the BJP might rope in industrial bigwigs like Adani Group and the BRS may take the help of Megha Engineering group to pump in money to poach the Congress MLAs and pull down the Revanth government,” sources said.
