Hyderabad is once again bustling with political activity — though not its own.
A significant portion of Andhra Pradesh's leadership, including Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, has landed in the city for the weekend. With his family based here, Hyderabad remains his regular retreat.
Deputy CM Pawan Kalyan is also in town, coinciding with the start of the OG movie shoot.
Minister Nara Lokesh, after attending a book launch event in Delhi graced by Prime Minister Modi, is expected to return directly to Hyderabad.
It’s no surprise anymore — Hyderabad has become the unofficial weekend base for Andhra Pradesh ministers. Farmhouses, luxury hotels, and private villas host political gatherings more frequently than government offices in Amaravati or Mangalagiri.
This pattern looks set to continue, at least until the upcoming Mahanadu meetings scheduled in Kadapa from the 27th.
Ministers are expected to move there a day early. With only a few days left, a brief detour to Mangalagiri is optional — Kadapa is easier to reach directly from Hyderabad.
For now, Hyderabad offers comfort, convenience, and a familiar rhythm. It may not be the capital, but it certainly feels like home for AP’s power corridors.
Many people of Amaravathi and rest of Andhra Pradesh, especially the real estate people, wonder if their CM's family and cabinet ministers consider Amaravati as capital at all or not.
If they themselves don't spend time in Amaravati but prefer Hyderabad for leisure, how can the capital grow, they question.
