Another RS member to quit YSRCP?

Another RS member to quit YSRCP?

If the reports coming from New Delhi are to be believed, yet another Rajya Sabha member is likely to call it quits to the YSR Congress party shortly.

According to sources, the resignation of the MP from the YSRCP is likely to happen soon after the return of Telugu Desam Party president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu from his three-day tour of New Delhi from May 22 and 24.

It is not immediately known whether the MP will join the Telugu Desam Party or the Bharatiya Janata Party, but he is expected to meet Naidu during the latter’s Delhi visit.

“This MP is said to be willing to rejoin the TDP, provided he is assured of a re-nomination to the Upper House,” sources said.

The chief minister, who will meet several Union ministers besides attending the NITI Aayog governing council meeting on May 24, will explain to the Central leadership the progress his government had made over the last one year of coming to power.

“He will also explain to them how the TDP and its alliance partners are working in tandem and why there is a need to prevent the rise of YSR Congress party again in the state. He will explain how Jagan will undo all the good work done by the coalition government so far, if he comes back to power,” sources said.

Speculation is rife that after the TDP’s biennial conclave Mahanadu, the state might witness dramatic political changes.

According to party insiders, key YSRCP leaders from Kadapa and North Andhra regions are preparing to switch sides and join the TDP during the event.
