Terming the deeksha of YS Jagan Mohan Reddy against the illegal irrigation projects of Telangana, a gimmick, the TDP suggested that Jagan should take up the deeksha at the prime minister’s residence in Delhi. This is a really strange argument to make.
First of all, does the TDP accept whether the Telangana projects are illegal or not? If they believe them to be illegal, then where is the gimmick in protesting about them and making the people of AP aware of the injustice being meted out to the State?
As for fighting for the rights of AP, it is the duty of the elected government to bring these issues to the notice of the Centre. If Jagan were to take up the deeksha at Modi’s residence, then where is the need for the TDP? It is better off resigning from office and leaving everything to Jagan.
In fact, has anyone from the TDP gone on a fast for even a single day for getting special status to AP? Similarly, they have not done anything to protect the interests of AP as regards the irrigation projects but are at the forefront in criticizing Jagan who is trying to educate the people of AP about the gross injustice being done to AP by the Telanganites.
