YSRC leader takes up 'gadapaku gadiyaram' scheme!

YSRC leader takes up 'gadapaku gadiyaram' scheme!

The ruling YSR Congress party leaders and cadre in Andhra Pradesh, right from ministers to MLAs to district-level leaders have been extensively participating in the “Gadapa Gadapakoo Prabhutvam” (government at every doorstep) programme.

The programme is aimed at explaining the welfare schemes being implemented by the Jagan Mohan Reddy government to the people and win back their confidence so that the YSRC can come to power in the state again.

The scheme is helping the YSRC leaders a lot to understand the real problems of the people and get the actual feedback from them.

While the response from the people has been by and large encouraging, the party leaders also facing criticism from the people on the lapses in administration.

Interestingly, some of the YSRC leaders are also making use of this Gadapa Gadapaku Prabhutvam programme to project themselves as the potential party candidates to contest the next elections.

Though there are still two years to go to the assembly elections in the state, the YSRC leaders are hurrying to appease the people fearing that Jagan might go for mid-term elections anytime this year end or next year.

Take the case of AP Brahmin Corporation chairman Seethamraju Sudhakar, who is strongly aspiring for the YSRC party ticket from Visakhapatnam (South) constituency, has already started campaigning for himself in the constituency, as if elections would be held only tomorrow.

While participating in the “government at every doorstep” campaign, Sudhakar has also started distributing wall clocks to the people in the constituency to attract the voters. He is appealing to the people to bless him in the next elections and elected him as their MLA.

So, the “gadapa gadapaku prabhutvam” programme has turned into “gadapa gadapa ku gadiyaram” programme for Sudhakar, who is pitching himself for the MLA candidature in the next elections.

Naturally, this has angered local MLA Vasupalli Ganesh, who defected from the TDP to the YSRC last year, and is hoping to retain his seat from the YSRC in the next elections.

While Sudhakar is getting good response to his “gadiyaram” campaign, Ganesh is not able to attract the voters much.

The MLA is alleging that Sudhakar has the support of YSRC general secretary V Vijay Sai Reddy. Though he requested the chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy to give an assurance to him on the party ticket, so far, he did not get any such promise.

It will be interesting to see who would get the blessings from the party high command in the next elections.
