YSRC in NDA: Will it be or will it not?

Suspense continues over the much-talked about joining of YSRC party in NDA government at the Centre, even after the meeting of YSRC president and CM Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy with PM Narendra Modi in New Delhi on Tuesday.

Reports from New Delhi indicated that Jagan, who had about 40-minute meeting with Modi, discussed the latest political developments in the state, apart from the pending issues of the state, including the precarious financial position of the state.

However, there is no clarity from either the BJP or the YSRC on whether Modi had invited Jagan into the NDA or not. Since Jagan is learnt to have briefed about the political developments in the state to Modi, it is only speculated that the issue of YSRC joining the NDA might have come up during the talks.

In fact, the talk of YSRC joining the NDA has been going on widely within the Jagan party, rather than in the BJP.

Even on Monday, YSRC chief whip G Srikanth Reddy said there was a possibility of his party joining the NDA government if the latter resolves all the pending issues mentioned in the AP Reorganisation Act, particularly special category status issue.

He said there was no invitation from BJP to the YSRC to join the NDA nor was there any such proposal from the YSRC. He, however, did not rule out the possibility.

So, for now, the suspense continues. It may take some time to get clarity on this issue, sources said.
