Will Respect Cong Decision, Says Naidu

The decision of the Congress party to go it alone in the forthcoming assembly and Lok Sabha elections in Andhra Pradesh has come as a blessing in disguise for Telugu Desam Party president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu.

Reacting on the Congress party’s decision, Naidu told the party leaders during a teleconference on Thursday that there were no issues with the Congress party.

“We shall completely respect the decision of the Congress and let us not make any comments about the same,” he said.

Naidu said that the TDP leaders should not be bothered about the alliance in the state.

“We can still work unitedly with the Congress at national level to save democracy. There are political parties in the proposed grand alliance which do not have any tie-up with Congress at the state level, but are ready to join hands with the Congress at the national level.

“Likewise, the TDP can will go alone in the state but can ally with the Congress in the post-election scenario,” he said.

Apparently, Naidu is relieved for more than one reason because of the Congress decision.

First, there is no need for any allocation of seats to the Congress up to its satisfaction, thereby avoiding trouble within the party.

Secondly, the TDP might keep the options open for a possible alliance with Jana Sena Party headed by Pawan Kalyan who will not join hands with Naidu as long as he makes friendship with the Congress.

Now that the Congress and the TDP are contesting separately, there is every possibility that Pawan might look forward to returning to the TDP fold.
