The prolonged delay in inducting Jana Sena Party leader and newly-appointed MLC Konidela Nagababu into the Andhra Pradesh cabinet, led by Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, has fueled media speculation for quite some time.
However, on Tuesday, Jana Sena Party president and Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan revealed that he has not yet approved Nagababu’s induction into the cabinet.
“The decision to bring him into the cabinet rests with me. I haven’t made a decision yet,” he stated.
Earlier, CM Naidu had announced that since Nagababu missed out on a Rajya Sabha seat, he would instead be given a cabinet berth.
Although Nagababu was subsequently appointed as an MLC, his cabinet entry didn’t materialize, reportedly due to Pawan Kalyan’s hesitation — concerned that having both brothers in the cabinet could invite criticism.
Now, it appears Pawan is reconsidering the situation, possibly leaning toward recommending Nagababu for a Rajya Sabha seat early next year. With a cabinet reshuffle expected next month, Pawan’s decision is being closely monitored.
Reportedly, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has also indicated that the Jana Sena Party will be allotted one berth in the Union Cabinet.
If Nagababu is nominated to the Rajya Sabha, he could be considered for the post; otherwise, the opportunity might go to Vallabhaneni Balashowry.
Pawan Kalyan also mentioned that once he completes filming for his two ongoing projects, he will fully dedicate himself to governance and party-building. He hinted at unveiling his political roadmap after August.
