Why is Pawan focussing on YSRC strongholds?

It has not gone unnoticed by political observers that Jana Sena Party president and actor Pawan Kalyan has not been making any negative comments against Telugu Desam Party president and chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu for quite some time, unlike what he used to do a few months ago.

At the same time, Naidu also has stopped taking Pawan Kalyan’s name while targeting the opposition.

Earlier, he used to describe Pawan and Jagan as the agents of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, but later he replaced Pawan with Telangana Rashtra Samithi president and chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao.

Now, YSRC leadership has gained credible information that Pawan has stepped into the political scene only to benefit Naidu.

According to sources, the Jana Sena Party is concentrating only on those constituencies where YSRC is very strong.

“All the constituencies that he has toured so far are those which are dominated by Kapu community, which is dead against the TDP which is traditionally Kamma-dominated. He wants to split the Kapu votes there, so that they would not vote for YSRC and it would ultimately benefit the TDP,” a YSRC leader said.

At the same time, the Jana Sena Party chief has not been touring south coastal Andhra and parts of Rayalaseema, where Balija voters are in big numbers.

“This is because Balijas are traditionally pro-TDP. If Pawan tours those constituencies, these Balijas would shift towards the Jana Sena and that would result in the defeat of the TDP, which Pawan does not want. So, he is staying away from such constituencies,” the YSRC leader said.
