What is this grandpa, Chevireddy Jr asks Naidu!

Chevireddy Mohit Reddy, who has been designated as the YSR Congress party candidate from Chandragiri assembly constituency in place of his father and sitting MLA Chevireddy Bhaskar Reddy, has turned out be smarter than his father in politics.

While Bhaskar Reddy is a little softer in his approach, Mohit Reddy seems to be more aggressive in attacking his political rivals.

It was evident from the way he strongly rebutted the allegations of Telugu Desam Party president and former chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu on the enrolment of bogus votes in Chandragiri.

After lodging a complaint with chief election commissioner Rajeev Kumar on bogus votes issue on Tuesday, Naidu observed that the ruling party is making a mockery of democracy by misusing the systems to enrol bogus votes.

"After witnessing the revolt among the people against the ruling dispensation, the party leaders are now making efforts to manipulate the voters lists and are also enrolling bogus votes," he added.

He pointed out that in the Chandragiri assembly segment alone, 1.15 lakh bogus voters were registered using Form-6 of which 33,000 votes are already enrolled, while the votes of those who went to other places in search of employment have been deleted.

Reacting to Naidu’s complaint, Mohit Reddy wondered how such a senior leader could make a false complaint with the CEC.

“Naidu garu, you are like my grandfather. You and my grandfather studied together in the same college. How can you talk like that, grandpa?” he asked.

Stating that he was only 25 years old, Mohit Reddy said he was born 20 years after Naidu came into politics.

“So, you are my grandfather. Dear thatha garu, you should go into the facts before making allegations against me and my family, instead of depending on the information given by the local TDP leaders,” he said.

He siad he was surprised to see Naidu’s complaint with the CEC.

“There are 3.09 lakh votes in Chandragiri. Between 2019 and 2024, there was an increase of only 16,000 votes, including 10,000 votes in the rural mandal. How can you say that there are more than one lakh bogus votes in Chandragiri?” he asked.
