Watch: Huge civic reception for Jagan in Vizag!

YSR Congress party president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy was accorded an unprecedented welcome in Visakhapatnam, notwithstanding the fact that his cabinet could not take any decision on shifting the administrative capital from Amaravati to Visakhpatnam.

More than a lakh of people took part in a massive human chain along the 24-km long road from Visakhapatnam airport to Kailsagiri, with the YSRC party workers taking up drum beating, cheering and raising slogans in support of Jagan.

The party workers took out a rally with hundreds of motor bikes following the chief minister’s convoy.

The human chain comprised mostly women and college students, attracting the attention of the entire city.

Organised as a part of the 'thanksgiving' to the chief minister for declaring Visakhapatnam as the executive capital, the rally witnessed an overwhelming response from across the district as well as neighbouring areas.

Party leaders in various localities aided in ensuring its successful formation, mobilising the party cadre.

A large number of women from various neighbourhoods including Marripalem, Kancharapalem, Thatichetlapalem and NAD participated with enthusiasm, waving placards with an image of the CM.

After announcing his move to make Visakhapatnam as executive capital, this is the first time the CM makes a trip to the City of Destiny.

Before heading to the main venue to take part in Visakha Utsav, the chief minister laid the foundation to a slew of projects such as biomining process, the establishment of museum and planetarium at Kailasagiri, tourist complex at RK Beach, multi-level car parking at Siripuram, among several others.

These development works were being initiated at a cost Rs.1,290 crore.
