Vundavalli seeks CBI probe against Naidu

Former Congress MP from Rajahmundry and political activist Vundavalli Arun Kumar, who has given a big weapon to YSR Congress party president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy to target media baron Ch Ramoji Rao in the Margadarsi case, has now entered the episode of CID case against Telugu Desam Party president N Chandrababu Naidu.

The TDP chief has been arrested by the Crime Investigation Department and lodged in Rajahmundry Central Jail in the alleged multi-crore skill development corporation case. The CID is tightening its noose around Naidu, so that he cannot escape.

Now, Vundavalli has entered the scene to make the issue more complicated. On Thursday, he filed a public interest litigation (PIL) petition in the state high court, requesting it to transfer the case to the Central Bureau of Investigation.

He contended that the skill development scheme had been extended to three other states and it involved issues like economic offences and evasion of GST. Moreover, the Enforcement Directorate has also investigated into the case and arrested four people in this regard.

“Therefore, it is appropriate that the skill development corporation case is entrusted to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI),” he argued.

The high court has admitted the PIL and is expected to take up the hearing next week, sources said.

If the high court decides to entrust the case to the CBI, it would be both good and bad for the TDP chief. Good because, he will be freed from the alleged harassment by the CID officials. Bad because, Naidu will be facing a CBI inquiry for the first time and get a bad name across the country.

Moreover, Naidu might also have to spend more time in jail, if the CBI finds any strong evidence against him in the case.
