Viveka case: Devireddy pleads innocence, blames Sunitha

YSR Congress party general secretary Devireddy Shiv Shankar Reddy, a close associate of Kadapa MP Y S Avinash Reddy, who was arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigation on Wednesday in connection with the murder of former minister Y S Vivekananda Reddy, claims that he was no way concerned with the murder.

The CBI, which picked up Devireddy from a private hospital in Hyderabad, where he was undergoing treatment, has been produced before a Hyderabad court on Thursday morning and is being shifted to Pulivendula on transit warrant to be produced before the local court.

It may be mentioned that Devireddy was named by Viveka’s driver Dastagiri in his confession statement to the CBI. However, Devireddy’s son Chaitanya Reddy issued a statement saying his father was no way connected to the case.

“He has sustained injury to left shoulder recently for which he has undergone surgery on November 15. He is still having pain post-surgery and he requires continuous analgesics and antibiotics. He can’t carry out his own activities. Kindly help us to get justice,” he said.

He also released a letter written by Devireddy to the CBI stating that he was innocent. He claimed that he was going to Jammalamadugu in the early hours of March 15, 2019 when he received a phone call stating that Viveka died at his house in Pulivendula.

Devireddy blamed it on Viveka’s PA Mooli Venkata Krishna Reddy and the family members of Viveka for the whole confusion at the incident spot.

He alleged that Mooli was in the possession of the letter and phone of Viveka, but had not handed over the same to the police.

He also found fault with Viveka’s daughter Sunitha, who from day one, has been in touch with the media giving statements with ulterior motives. She is also used to meeting the investigating agency everyday influencing the investigation process and giving petitions with ulterior motives.

“It is understood from her actions that whenever the investigation is going on in proper lines she used to make false statements before the media and also give petitions to the investigating agency expressing doubt other with an intent to divert the investigation agency as per her whims and fancies to implicate innocent persons,” Devidreddy said.

He also blamed Andhra Jyothy MD Vemuri Radhakrishna for attempting to spread hatred against the YSRC.

“Sunitha is in close touch with him and she attended his house and paid homage to the departed wife of Vemunt Radhakrishna All her actions reveal that she is acting in a different manner with ulterior motives and for unknown reasons,” he said.
