Decks have been cleared for the entry of Kapu leader and former MLA Vangaveeti Radhakrishna into the Telugu Desam Party, within a week of he quitting the YSR Congress party.
It was evident from the way Vangaveeti lavished praises on TDP president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Thursday, stating that he was high grateful on the part of the TDP chief to invite him into the party.
“It was a pleasant surprise for me, as a person of the chief minister’s stature personally invited me into the party,” he said.
Vangaveeti tendered apology to the chief minister for not realizing that there are hardcore fans of his father Vangaveeti Mohan Ranga in the TDP as well.
“My only ambition is to work for the ideals of my father in whichever party I am in,” he said.
A delegation of TDP leaders led by T D Janardhan met Vangaveeti on the directions of Naidu and conveyed to him the personal invitation of Naidu.
The Kapu leader responded positively to the invitation and in turn brought to their notice problems faced by the public.
Of course, before defecting to the TDP, Vangaveeti expectedly made some harsh comments against YSR Congress party chief Y S Jaganmohan Reddy.
“I could not continue in the party under severe restrictions. It was a shocking to me when Jagan questioned me why I attended the function to unveil the statue of my father. He told me I could not take any decision without his consent,” he alleged.
