Troubles continue to mount for YSR Congress Party leader and former Gannavaram MLA Vallabhaneni Vamsi, as a Vijayawada court on Wednesday extended his judicial remand by another two weeks in connection with multiple cases filed by the Andhra Pradesh government.
Once known for his dominance in the constituency, Vamsi appeared drastically changed when brought to court — frail, with a shaved head and pale face, leaving many who saw him unable to recognize him at first glance.
His remand in the case related to the attack on the TDP office in Gannavaram ended on Wednesday.
He was presented before the CID court, which extended his remand until May 21. He was then taken back to the district jail.
On Tuesday, Vamsi faced another setback in the Satya Vardhan kidnapping case. As his remand in that case also concluded, the court extended it until May 13.
Alongside Vamsi, Velineni Sivarama Krishna Prasad, Ganta Veerraju, Nimmachalpati, and Velpuri Vamsibabu were also remanded. Police are continuing efforts to arrest others involved who remain absconding.
Meanwhile, in the Kadambari Jethwani case, the remand of senior IPS officer PSR Anjaneyulu was also extended.
With his current remand ending on Wednesday, he was produced before the CID court, which extended it until May 21.
PSR Anjaneyulu is also facing charges linked to his tenure as Secretary of the Andhra Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC).
He is accused of irregularities in the Group 1 Mains exam evaluation process and large-scale financial misappropriation.
A case has been registered against him under various sections related to cheating, misuse of funds, and criminal conspiracy at the Suryaraopet police station in Vijayawada.
