Theft in Nellore court: Who has done it?

Theft in Nellore court: Who has done it?

A theft in the additional judicial magistrate court in Nellore on Wednesday night, in which robbers took away important documents of a prominent case and a few electronic items created a furor in the district.

The theft came to light on Thursday morning, when the court staff found a bag of documents and electronic items were missing in the court. Based on the complaint, police filed a case and took up investigation.

Police said they found the stolen bag in a culvert outside the court and several documents were missing.

They informed that the stolen documents belong to a forgery case filed by TDP senior leader Somireddy Chandramohan Reddy earlier against Kakani Govardhan Reddy, who has become a minister five days ago.

On December 2017, Kakani, who represents Sarvepally assembly constituency alleged that former minister Somireddy had amassed properties worth thousands of crores of rupees in foreign countries. He released a few documents, quoting them as property documents, to the media.

Somireddy filed a complaint with Nellore rural police station that Kakani had forged documents and demanded action to be taken against Kakani. He even filed a defamation case against Kakani in the court.

Later it was proved that the documents provided by Kakani were fake and filed a charge sheet against him.

It is not clear whether the documents that went missing were the same as those which were allegedly forged by the minister.

“While the bag was found, but some crucial documents related to the forgery case are missing,” sources said.

Surprisingly, the thieves did not touch any other property; but picked up only those papers related to Somireddy-Kakani case. This led to the suspicion among the TDP leaders that the theft was the handiwork of the followers of Kakani.

The TDP leaders also wonder why the CCTV cameras in the court complex did not work at the time of theft.

“It clearly shows that the theft has taken place with the connivance of local police. Since Kakani has become a minister, he is trying to get out of the case by getting the forged documents stolen,” a TDP leader alleged.
