TDP will be left with only two MLAs, says Roja

The Telugu Desam Party led by former chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu had won only 23 MLAs in the 175-member Andhra Pradesh assembly in 2019 assembly elections.

Soon after the elections, YSR Congress party president and chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy said the figure obtained by the TDP was as per the script written by the god, as Naidu had poached 23 MLAs from the YSRC between 2014 and 2019.

Now, according to YSRC leader and state tourism minister R K Roja, the TDP will be left with just two MLAs in the assembly after the next general elections.

Reason: Naidu has poached two MLAs this time to win the MLC seat under MLAs’ quota in the elections held on Thursday.

“The god will write the script for Naidu again in 2024. Since he has bought two of our party MLAs for the MLC seat, the TDP will get only two seats in the next assembly elections,” Roja said.

She accused Naidu of being power hungry.

“He had taken a vow not to enter the state assembly again. Why did he come to the assembly premises on Thursday, if not for power?” she asked.

Roja said chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy had nothing to lose, if the two of the party MLAs cross-voted for the TDP.

“They are going to face the repercussions. Very soon, their future will be decided by the party and they would have to pay a heavy penalty for betraying the party,” she added.

Another senior YSRC leader and minister for agriculture Kakani Goverdhan Reddy said the TDP had gained immoral victory in the MLC elections. The election results exposed the conspiratorial politics of Chandrababu Naidu, he said.

“Let them celebrate, as they have no chance to celebrate again after the next assembly elections. They are going to be the last elections for Chandrababu Naidu,” he asserted.
