Reddy Faces Trolling For 'biting Modi' Remarks

Reddy Faces Trolling For 'biting Modi' Remarks

Telugu Desam Party’s official spokesperson Gunipati Deepak Reddy, son-in-law of senior politician JC Diwakar Reddy, seems to be suffering from foot-in-the-mouth syndrome and is turning out to be as controversial as his in-laws.

While the TDP leadership designated him as national media spokesperson because of his public-school background and English-speaking abilities, he is landing the party in trouble with his silly and stupid comments on the national media channels.

His latest comments on the decision of Lok Sabha speaker asking Prime Minister Narendra Modi not to come to the House fearing attacks from the opposition members have sparked fresh controversy.

Participating in an English television channel debate on the recent disruption in the Lok Sabha—where opposition women MPs reportedly interrupted proceedings during the Prime Minister’s scheduled speech on the Motion of Thanks to the President’s address—Deepak Reddy alleged that opposition women MPs had surrounded the Prime Minister and attempted to physically attack him.

In a startling claim, he said that although the MPs did not possess conventional weapons, they allegedly tried to use their teeth as weapons and attempted to bite the Prime Minister.

His remarks left the debate’s anchor visibly shocked, prompting her to seek clarification. However, Deepak Reddy reiterated his claims, leading to further confusion and discomfort during the discussion.

This is not the first time Deepak Reddy’s comments have triggered controversy.

Earlier, during the crisis involving IndiGo Airlines, he appeared on Republic TV and claimed that Telugu Desam Party general secretary Nara Lokesh was taking stock of the crisis, though Union civil aviation minister K Rammohan Naidu was handling the situation.

The statement that surprised anchor Arnab Goswami, who questioned Lokesh’s connection to the aviation crisis. The remarks subsequently led to a minor controversy between the TDP and the television channel.

Though chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu gave a dressing down to Deepak Reddy for unnecessarily making an issue out of the airline crisis, the latest comments from the spokesman further embarrassed the party leadership.

“Don’t be surprised, if Deepak Reddy is taken out of the party spokesman post. He is facing heavy trolling on social media from across the country. Naidu is said to be serious and he is looking for alternative leader to replace Deepak Reddy,” sources said.
