TDP, JSP, BJP and BRS, Ravela now eying YSRCP

Indian Railway Traffic Service (IRTS) officer-turned-politician and former Andhra Pradesh minister Ravela Kishore Babu is known for changing the political parties as frequently as his coats.

Kishore Babu, who entered politics in 2013, has changed as many as four parties till now.

He is now all set to join the fifth party – YSR Congress party very soon, as he has started praising the policies of party president and chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy of late.

Kishore Babu joining the TDP and contested the 2014 assembly elections from Prathipadu constituency in Guntur district. He was inducted into the Chandrababu Naidu cabinet as minister for social welfare.

However, he was upset with Naidu dropped him from the cabinet as part of cabinet reshuffle. Within a few months, he quit the TDP and joined Jana Sena Party ahead of the 2019 assembly elections in AP.

But after losing the elections, Kishore Babu quit the Jana Sena Party and joined the Bharatiya Janata Party. But soon he realised that there is nothing much for him to do in the BJP as well.

He kept himself away from the party activities for quite some time.

In 2023, he joined the Bharat Rashtra Samithi headed by former Telangana chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, who was planning to expand his party to different states including Andhra Pradesh.

But the BRS has no activity in Andhra Pradesh and after the party lost power in Telangana in December last year, it has virtually shut the shop in AP. So, Kishore Babu has once again become jobless in politics.

Now, he is looking up to the ruling YSRCP. On Monday, Kishore Babu lavished praise on Jagan, saying he had given the true definition for a welfare state.

“While Naidu was of the view that only development would help the poor become rich, Jagan believes that the government should directly benefit the poor through welfare schemes,” he said.

He alleged that Naidu’s philosophy helped the rich to become richer and the poor becomes poorer, Jagan’s policies would help the poor to become rich directly.

“That is why I am attracted towards YSRCP,” he said.

In any case, Kishore Babu has no chance of getting the YSRCP party ticket this time, as the selection is more or less completed. He has to wait till Jagan returns to power so that he would get some position.

But if Jagan doesn’t come back to power, there is no surprise of Kishore Babu returns to his parent party – TDP or its alliance partner Jana Sena!
