TDP helping BJP cause in Andhra?

TDP helping BJP cause in Andhra?

After the initial friendly relations, Bharatiya Janata Party has, of late, started attacking the YSR Congress party government in Andhra Pradesh led by Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy.

The party leaders are looking for exploiting sensitive issues and playing the Hindutva card to polarise the Hindu votes.

The recent episode of an order by Visakhapatnam police to give police protection to Churches fearing attacks allegedly by Hindutva forces has come in handy for the BJP leaders.

Now, the Telugu Desam Party, which faced a humiliating defeat in the recent assembly elections, also appears to be fomenting communal trouble through spreading fake reports in the social media, despite knowing that such steps would ultimately help the BJP.

For the last few hours, social media was agog with the reports that Jagan Mohan Reddy has appointed his relative Christopher David as the deputy executive officer of the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams, which is purely a Hindu religious institution managing the country’s richest temple in Tirumala.

Apparently, the news was spread by the TDP social media wing and within hours, it went viral across the state, drawing criticism from the Hindu religious institutions.

And popular Telugu television channel TV5, supposedly close to the TDP boss, carried a big breaking story on Wednesday night and posted the same on its website.

On Thursday morning, the TTD received huge trolling by the Hindu groups and its chairman Y V Subba Reddy had to give a lengthy explanation, condemning the reports.

He tweeted that the TDP and “yellow media” for propagating false propagandas against TTD on the appointment of Christopher David as DEO of TTD.

“It is completely fake and malicious. Legal action would be taken against the channel,” Subba Reddy warned.

Apparently realising that it is going to land in trouble, TV5 withdrew the report and tendered apology to the TTD. It said it had carried the report based on social media reports.

It is now pretty evident that the TDP wanted to gain political mileage by fomenting trouble between the YSRC and BJP. But what it has forgotten that it would not help the TDP, but the BJP in the coming days!
