Stephen Ravindra to be AP intelligence chief?

Senior IPS officer Stephen Ravindra, considered to be one of the most efficient and toughest police officials in Telangana, is going to be the new Intelligence chief of Andhra Pradesh.

Interestingly, Ravindra had opted for Telangana as part of division of bureaucrats and police officials between two Telugu states post-bifurcation of combined Andhra Pradesh.

Reason was simple: he did not want to work under the rule of former chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu.

He enjoyed different positions in Telangana and is presently working as Inspector General of Police in Hyderabad Range.

He has also been appointed as the special officer of Special Investigation Team into the data theft case involving IT Grids Private Ltd and Telugu Desam Party.

During the Congress regime between 2004 and 2009, he was the Chief Security Officer to former Chief Minister YS Rajasekhar Reddy and is said to be closer to YSR family.

While in Telangana, he played crucial role in controlling Naxalism and in Rayalaseema, he crushed the factional feuds with iron hand.

He is known for commitment and dedication in his work as well as one of the most talented officers.

Now that YSR’s son Y S Jagamohan Reddy has become the chief minister of Andhra Pradesh, Ravindra made a request to the Telangana government that he be transferred to the neighbouring state.

In all probability, Ravindra will be relived in a week or two, after getting permission from the Centre.
