Shock after shock to Telangana Congress!

Shock after shock to Telangana Congress!

As expected, more and more MLAs are calling it quits to the Congress party in Telangana and jumping into the ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi ahead of the elections to the state legislative council on March 12.

On Sunday, Congress MLA from Yellandu in Khammam district Haripriya Naik resigned from the party, stating that she strongly believed in the leadership of TRS president and chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, who was committed to the welfare of tribals in the state.

Stating that she had taken the decision after consulting all her followers and people of her constituency, Naik said she would resign from the MLA post if necessary and would contest the by-election again with the “B” form of the TRS.

The Yellandu MLA’s resignation comes in the wake of resignation of Nakrekal MLA Chirumarthi Lingaiah form the Congress on Saturday.

He, too, said he would quit the MLA post, “if necessary.” Two other MLAs -- Athram Sakku and Rega Kantha Rao also already joined the TRS.

What is more surprising the report that even former home minister and Maheshwaram MLA Sabita Indra Reddy would also be joining the TRS soon.

It was only on Friday that Sabita addressed the rally of Congress president Rahul Gandhi at Shamshabad and called upon the people to vote for the party in the Lok Sabha elections and make Rahul Gandhi as the Prime Minister of the country.

But within hours, Sabita changed her tune. She had a secret meeting with TRS working president K T Rama Rao at a private place.

She was accompanied by her son Karthik Reddy, while KTR was accompanied by MIM president Asaduddin Owaisi. Apparently, KTR gave her strong assurance on the political future of Karthik.

In all probability, Sabita will o hold a meeting with the TRS supremo and chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao in a day or two and announce her decision to quit the Congress.

According to latest reports, PCC president N Uttam Kumar Reddy and working president Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka are trying to convince Sabita to stay back.
